Freshwater/pellets/minced fresh produce/small amount of mixed seeds daily, red-colored foods (carrots, red pepper, paprika, cherries, cayenne pepper, beets, yams) at time of molting to encourage red color to feathers, small cage, perches of various diameters at different levels in a cage, exposure to radio or other music when alone to keep company, annual veterinary check-ups, regular nail clipping, can be housed singly or as pairs during the breeding season (males shouldn’t be housed together or will fight).
