If you’re sharing some human food items don’t use a utensil that’s been in your mouth to touch that item going to your bird. We have all kinds of bacteria, yeast, and other microbes in our that don’t belong in a bird’s mouth. The types of organisms living in a bird mouth are very different. Birds will chew up each other’s food as sort of a sexual display and they’ll regurgitate their food to their partners. You can break off little bits of things before you’ve eaten them. Use clean utensils and share those bites of food if they’re safe foods. You want to make sure that you’re not feeding anything super hot or cold. Birds can get injured. Birds can get tongue burns when food is hot or comes out of the microwave. If it’s too hot for you to eat, it’s too hot for your bird as well.
