Why Blends Aren’t an Everyday All-day Diet

By Dr. Laurie Hess, DVM, Diplomate ABVP (Avian Practice)

While feeding ZuPreem’s blends to birds on all-seed/nut, nutritionally-deficient diets provides a great pathway to transition them to pellets, blends should never be fed every day as the main diet. Blends should not make up more than 30% of a bird’s total diet. They can be offered in small amounts each day after birds have consumed their pellets, or they can be fed more on weekends when bird owners tend to spend more time with their pets. They can also be saved as rewards during training sessions or fed every other day to allow birds more opportunities for foraging in their food bowls. Every bird’s living situation and relationship with its owner is different, and ZuPreem’s blended diets allow bird owners the freedom to choose how to best incorporate them into their birds’ individual situations. The key is to feed in moderation, just as favorite foods are ideally incorporated into healthy humans’ diets.
